
This cartograph shows the U.S. state of California and its drought levels over a period of three years (May 2019 to May 2021).
As shown above, drought conditions in the state were already reported in 2019, especially in the south. The following year, it was the northern and central parts of the state that experienced dry land, with those in the northwest having severe to extreme drought.
By 2021, all of the Golden State experienced drought conditions that are undoubtedly worse than the previous year. The worst dry spells are observed in the southeastern part of the state.
