Shown above is a map of Austria, which is located in central Europe. This map is a raised-relief map, which is a 3D map that places emphasis on a country’s terrain.

The map is colored in red and white, just like the bicolor Austrian flag. White represents the high mountains, and red is for the low-lying areas.

According to the Austrian Embassy in Washington, the country has more than 83,000 square kilometers of land area. Among the many mountainous spots, the Alps mountain range is prominent here, especially in the western and central parts of the country.

Although not seen on the map, Austria also boasts its blue Danube river, which is the largest in the country at 350 km and is shared with two neighboring nations.

Britannica notes that somewhere in the Austrian mountains lies the country’s highest point, the Grossglockner, standing at over 12,000 feet (about 3,700 meters tall). Over in the lowlands of the northeast (red), the Neusiedler Lake in Burgenland, located near the capital Vienna, has the lowest elevation at just 115 meters (377 feet) above sea level.
