This map of Asia shows how each country fares when it comes to English proficiency. The rankings are based on the 2020 English Proficiency Index published by Education First.

The only Asian nation with a “very high” score, Singapore earned 611 points, making them the leading English-speaking Asian country and 10th in the world. Scoring a “high” 562 points, the Philippines ranked second in Asia and 27th globally.

Five Asian nations have a score in the “moderate” range, and eight countries achieving a “low” score range. Nine Asian countries received “very low scores”, with the lowest score going to Tajikistan, at 381 points, ranking 100th worldwide in terms of English capability.
